I am an installation artist, Bae Soo Young. I work as an installation artist and art director specialized in public art projects. As installation artist, I have been doing solo exhibitions and am involved in many exhibitions and art fairs overseas. I think the main point of an installation art is considerations of how to utilize the objects existing in plane or three dimensional spaces. So I think an installation art is to expand the research on how to find and arrange them. The earth of 21st century we live in is been a long time since the earth lost its original shape. The advancement of science and the growth of industry have made human life more convenient, but destroyed the earth(nature) which is our home of life without mercy. The advancement of capitalism is fueling competition even more and human selfishness is running frantically towards its pinnacle. The capitalism which was way to live a better life was accompanied by endless competition and conflict. the result caused extreme individualism and a break of human relationship. I felt deep anger at the current situation caused by human hands and compassion for blind and foolish humans. I felt these in man-made industrial wastes. I wanted to give them a new life to be reborn as objects of a work by selecting them even though once did their part but are now abandoned and the ever-increasing them of modern civilization. These selected industrial wastes will be a work combined with today’s most familiar electronics and electrical circuits. complicated electrical circuits lose its function when any one of them is disconnected. I think this is not different for our story.

Electrical circuits are showing us our appearance. the industrial wastes combined with them are talking to us about their meaning and value which exist in the relationship. Such as they gather in one place and give each other a new meaning and reborn as a work by becoming valuable, the story of the world we live in won't also go on without others around of us. Because each other becomes to be the meaning of existence when they are together, the work of Humans are to build to make a life of recycling, recovering and coexistence. This is not only human relationship but also the reason of harmony between nature and humans. I think we spent far too long time having forgotten the simple reason that each of value is more bright when we are together. The sunshine makes us just look out the sunny window and go out for a walk. I think this is human nature to catch energy the sunlight infuse into the earth Humans will be found of a will and hope about a life to see the light which is human nature. but I think we live in the world lost the sunlight with endless competition and egoism. the human-made civilization destroyed humanity and has been free to the violation paradoxically. humanity has become more ravaged in the hopeless world and humans have become merely an adjunct to capitalism. I dreamed the bright world to take back values of existence we abandoned or are forced to abandoned. By selecting things surrounding us in our lives and appearing in my work as an object, I wanted to remind the overall problem in human lives and say the hope to recover lost humanity. The artificial light will remind us of the light of nature we lost and the memories of hope. All the problem of human life will be targeted and viewed objectively with meeting the familiar supplies for daily as objects in the work. I want to share the careful consideration of inner inside and the human problems surrounding us with visitors.
